Consus Ag Consulting Afternoon Wrap Up
Monday, April 27th, 2026
Corn, soybeans, and wheat posted moderate gains in the overnight session to start the week and this momentum carried over into day trade. Managed money buying was elevated to start the week as both weather and war premium were added to futures. Weather remains less than ideal in several regions of the US, but this is also a global issue. The strengthening El Nino pattern is impacting global production, with Australia and Asia current focal points. We are also starting to hear more reports of safrinha needing a drink in Brazil. Crude oil rallied today to give the ag contracts more support as it appears the Straits of Hormuz are no closer to opening than they were last week. Economists are now warning the energy values are likely to remain “higher for longer” under current developments. Rapid Us planting is expected tonight for the US while did cap gains, as did wetter forecasts for the US Plains. The flash sales report was quiet this morning, but we did see several feed grain sales take place, including corn to South Korea. First notice day is Thursday, which elevated position squaring in several markets.
